OVERVIEW
-
The Fenlectron Areameter is a
simple low-cost unit, incorporating a number of novel features. It
was designed to withstand the rigours of everyday farm or commercial
use and has significant advantages over other units currently available.
-
ROBUST CASE
-
The Areameter is fitted in a
robust compact case approximately 140 mm wide, 60 mm high & 33 mm
deep (5.5" x 2.5" x 1.25"). This is easily mounted in
a tractor or vehicle cab with the Velcro strips provided.
-
EASY TO FIT
-
The Fenlectron Areameter is
supplied complete with a universal fitting kit, which includes a
wheel sensor to measure distance travelled and a cut-out switch to
avoid accumulating area when turning at the headland etc. The unit is
powered by its own internal battery. This means that no connection to
the tractor's electrical system is needed. The wiring is therefore
very simple, as only the cables from the wheel sensor and the cut-out
switch need to be connected.
-
WHEEL
SENSOR
-
The Fenlectron wheel sensor is a
heavy duty sealed unit which has proved robust & reliable in many
different situations & applications in many different countries.
It is completely unaffected by mud & water. The sensor is easily
fitted, with the clamp & bracket provided, in the position shown
in the fitting instructions supplied with the kit. A number of
operating magnets are fitted to a non-driven wheel of the tractor,
vehicle or implement being used. The number of magnets to be fitted
is determined by the circumference of the wheel and the width of the implement.
-
EASY TO USE
-
The Areameter is designed to be
very easy to use. There are only two switches on the front panel, as
the calibration factors for implement width and wheel circumference
are entered with concealed switches at the back of the instrument.
The display is liquid crystal and very easy to read.
-
VERSATILE
-
The fact that the Areameter has
its own power supply makes it immensely versatile. For example, the
wheel sensor, cut-out switch and even the Areameter itself can all be
mounted on an implement such as a mower, with the Areameter suitably
protected. This is particularly useful where to different tractors
might be used with one mower.
-
CONVENIENT
-
In situations where security is
likely to be a problem, the Areameter can easily be unplugged and
taken away. The unit is designed to have a very long battery life, so
it can be safely left on overnight to retain the area reading.
-
FITTING KITS
-
Additional fitting kits can be
supplied at minimal cost, so that one Areameter can be used with
several different items of equipment to suit the job in hand.
-
ADDITIONAL
USES
-
Although designed primarily to
cover the band of implement widths from 4 - 12 feet (1.2 - 3.6
metres), with a small amount of extra adjustment the Areameter can be
used with implements of widths up to 40 feet (12 metres), such as
sprayers and spreaders.
